In an effort to enhance safety options for the University community, the University of Virginia Police Department implemented a public safety ambassador program (Ambassador Program) in an area of the City of Charlottesville that is adjacent to Grounds that contains student housing and transitions into areas occupied predominantly by city residents.
The Ambassador Program was implemented in February 2015 to enhance safety in the Ambassador Patrol Zone through high visibility and engagement between the Ambassadors and the public.
