Health Care Plans: UVA offers three health care plan options administered through Aetna.  You can decide on the plan and coverage that is best for you and your family’s needs.  To learn more about the options, click here. Vision and dental coverage options are available as well.

Educational Benefits: UVA encourages employees to continue their education. A maximum of $4,360, per year, is available for use for educational benefits between tuition and professional development benefits.  More information can be found here

Wellness: UPD provides membership to the University’s IM-Rec facilities. We care about your health and provide a variety of wellness programs to assist employees in meeting their financial, emotional, and physical wellness goals. To learn more, click here

Unique Training Opportunities: Beyond the 40 hours required by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services and the department to maintain accreditation, UPD officers can submit proposals to complete additional training as continuous professional development.

Overtime Opportunities: While there is mandatory overtime, there are also voluntary overtime opportunities that include sporting events, speaker events, VIP visits, concerts, performances and other mission-critical details.

Uniforms and Equipment: All sworn officers are provided uniforms and equipment upon hire. Uniform dry-cleaning is provided and equipment items are replaced as needed.

Laptop and Mifi: All sworn officers are issued a Getac Mobile Data Terminal laptop.

Educated, Experienced, and Trained Leadership and Command Staff: Several command staff members have been trained through various academies and schools including:
