If you are still in Charlottesville, you should also use the below check list before leaving your residence:
- Ensure all doors and windows are properly secured
- Turn off all lights
- Take all items of value with you
- Have mail stopped at https://www.usps.com/manage/hold-mail.htm
- Close blinds and shades
- Inform landlord (if off Grounds)
- Remove everything from refrigerator and all trash from residence
